Longhorn IP is preparing to mark a major milestone: its 10‑year anniversary on April 4, 2026. As the company approaches this celebration, it reflects on a decade defined by principled licensing, strategic growth, and meaningful victories across its global portfolios under management.

Founded on April 4, 2016 by Khaled Fekih‑Romdhane, Longhorn IP has grown from a bold vision into a respected leader in intellectual property strategy, enforcement, and technology commercialization.

“As we approach our tenth anniversary, I’m reminded of why we started,” said Fekih‑Romdhane, Founder and CEO. “Our mission has always been to enforce patents with strength, license with fairness, and uphold the integrity of innovation. That commitment is as strong today as it was in 2016.”

A Decade of Milestones and Momentum

⚔️ A Landmark Jury Victory for Katana

One of the defining achievements of Longhorn IP’s first decade came last summer, when its affiliate Katana Silicon Technologies secured a $9.2 million jury verdict in the Western District of Texas against GlobalFoundries.

The case centered on U.S. Patent No. 6,291,861, which survived multiple validity challenges before the jury confirmed infringement.

“This verdict symbolizes the strength of our portfolios and the dedication of our teams,” said Fekih‑Romdhane. “It reflects exactly what principled enforcement looks like.”

🌐 Strategic Expansion and Global Licensing Impact

Over the past ten years, Longhorn IP has expanded its reach through targeted acquisitions and portfolio development, including assets from FG Innovation and Shanghai Langbo. These additions strengthened the company’s position across:

  • Wireless and 5G technologies

  • Semiconductors and advanced packaging

  • Consumer electronics and computing systems

Longhorn IP’s technical depth and disciplined licensing approach earned it recognition in the LexisNexis 5G Patent Race, ranking #38 globally for Standard Essential Patents in 2025.

Looking Ahead to the Next Decade

As Longhorn IP prepares to celebrate its anniversary on April 4, the company is focused on the future:

  • Expanding into next‑generation technologies including AI, 5G/6G, and advanced semiconductor architectures

  • Strengthening global licensing campaigns grounded in technical rigor

  • Supporting inventors and innovators through fair, principled licensing

  • Building new partnerships across the technology ecosystem

“Longhorn IP’s first decade was built on resilience, strategy, and integrity,” said Fekih‑Romdhane. “The next decade will be defined by even greater ambition — and an unwavering belief that patents matter.”
