Hermes IP Management LLC (Hermes) announced today that it has entered into a license agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (Samsung) to license Hermes's patents. 'We are glad to announce Hermes's license agreement with Samsung, a world-leading technology company,' said Khaled Fekih-Romdhane, manager of Hermes. All terms of the agreement are confidential.

On July 16, 2024, Hermes filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (EDTX) against Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and Samsung Electronics America, Inc.  Hermes U.S. Patent Nos. 8,855,720, 9,613,060, and 8,537,977 (the “Asserted Patents”) cover inventions related to user interfaces, location sharing, and noise cancellation that are incorporated in a voluminous number of mobile devices.

Hermes has acquired a patent portfolio related to fundamental technologies such as mobile user interface. The technologies claimed by the patents are employed in most modern mobile devices and systems, such as smartphones, tablets, and touchscreen laptops.

The Patents originated from SK Telecom, a South Korean telecommunication company and the largest wireless carrier in the country.
